The B.L.C.’s Ministry of Finance says it is putting $50,000 in the province’s budget to rebuild damaged properties in Pierce Manufacturing’s manufacturing facility.
The funding will be used to buy items from Pierce and to purchase repair parts, as well as support its community-led restoration effort.
The money will also be used for an annual fund to support Pierce Manufacturing.
The province has pledged to spend $1.6 million on Pierce’s manufacturing operations, which is responsible for approximately 20,000 to 25,000 jobs.
In 2016, Pierce filed for bankruptcy and its operations were shut down.
Pierce was also forced to shut down its manufacturing plant in the B.B.C.-Nanaimo border town of Pierce, which has since been re-established.
