John Mcenroe will play the next generation of the iconic American sitcom ‘The Big Bang Theory’, as he takes over from Stephen Merchant, who will leave after his 13-year-long tenure.
“I have always said that it’s going to be a very special, exciting time,” said the 81-year old.
“There will be a lot of great characters, great jokes, and great moments, so it’s a wonderful time to be part of.”
And it’s all going to happen in a very different way than it did at the end of the ’90s, so there will be surprises.
“It’s going a little bit differently, so I’m looking forward to it.”
McEnroe is set to be joined by fellow American stars Stephen Merchant and Jason Alexander.
The cast also includes Melissa McCarthy, Jason Sudeikis, Jason Alexander, Katey Sagal and Kathy Bates.
“The Big Big Bang theory has been an enduring American phenomenon,” said McEnoe.
“I’m delighted that this is going to go on and have a lasting impact on the world.”
“The future looks bright for the show.
We’re all looking forward with a very high level of excitement,” he added.
McEnoe said he is not concerned about the future of the show and that he is happy to work on it in the new year.
“We’ll do what we have to do,” he said.
“But I’m not concerned.”
The show is scheduled to air for its final season on Thursday, January 22.
