A new Indian naval vessel is due to be completed by 2020.
The Hindustan Times reports that the vessel will be christened the Vikramaditya, after the goddess of the sea.
The ship will have a crew of more than 1,000.
It will also carry out deep sea drilling and sea trials.
The Vikramadhya will be equipped with three helicopter-launched torpedoes.
It is also expected to have a new shipyard, and that the Indian Navy will invest in a new submarine facility.
The Vikramacharya class is a hybrid ship that is built around two submarines and two diesel-electric submarines.
It can also carry nuclear-powered submarines.
The Hindustans Times also reports that India is planning to develop its own indigenous shipbuilding and engineering capability to boost its shipbuilding capacity and its exports.
